Volunteers’ Week 2024

It’s not an understatement to say that we couldn’t do what we do without volunteers. The Trussell Trust and Abingdon Foodbank is a volunteer-powered organisation and this Volunteers’ Week we will be celebrating and giving thanks to volunteers for their incredible care, compassion and courage.

Volunteers’ Week was first established in 1984, by what was then known as Volunteering England. This year it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

At Abingdon Foodbank we have volunteers offering all kinds of service: welcoming, making cups of tea, signposting and listening, going through pick lists, packing parcels, collecting donations from collection points, sorting through donations, stocking shelves, ordering stock, manning the help yourself table, posting on social media, liaising with donors, clients and referrers, handling accounts and petty cash, volunteer inductions, public speaking and more!
